Addie wakes up every morning at 5:30am (6am on a good day) and asks to go to the “poo.” On occasion she asks to go to the beach. Daniel is hoping to have her swimming by the end of this summer and surfing next summer. She seems up for the challenge.

I need to squeeze in a few quick updates before baby sister arrives and life becomes a blur:
-Sinus infection + 38 weeks pregnant + Summer heat = miserable
-Finally giving in to taking antibiotics = good decision
-Addie did her first pee pee on the potty while at Abuela’s house 2 weeks ago!
-Uncle Chris graduated from high school:

-Aunt Tara moved in with us yesterday! Yippee!
-Cousins Sophia and Olivia came for a very fun afternoon visit:
-Some daily activities:
-Some current Addietude issues include faking injuries for attention, zoning out while being disciplined, and ferocious biting of Mommy. Any advice? I’m sure these will all go away when the baby arrives
-Luckily, there are more positives than negatives: Addie loves the pool, painting, reading, making a “ness” (mess), playing outside, going “bye bye” and anything Daddy related. Her vocabulary is expanding daily and it’s fun to hear what is going on in that little head!
-There’s a decent chance the next post will be a baby announcement! Stay tuned…

I am not afraid to say I want a minivan.

Addie was a doll for Aunt Tara’s graduation from Radford University:
This is actually an unfair depiction of Addie’s overall behavior at the graduation ceremony. She was totally in her element with the large crowds and fun music. She especially like Tara’s special hat.
Crazy Aunt Tara plans to move in with us for a few months until she moves on to bigger and better things this Fall. College is one thing, but can she really handle the Strickland household this summer? How many times can she sing The Potty Song or read about Prudence’s anatomy? Can she answer the question “Where is Dada? and Roo (Tyrone)?” every 10 minutes, until the workday ends, without going crazy? Not to mention that she may become a professional breast pump washer once baby sister arrives. Newborn/toddler 101 starts in just a few weeks!

Today we went strawberry picking at Chiles Peach Orchard in Crozet. The strawberries were pretty delicious and Addie certainly got her fill. The fresh strawberry milkshakes were even more delicious and I will be making special trips back for more until the baby arrives.
On a totally different subject, here is a noteworthy quote from dinner tonight:
Me: How was it?
Daniel: Pretty good as long as I closed my eyes. The chunks made me gag, but the flavor is good.
That’s what happens when you take a perfectly good Kraft.com recipe and try to substitute Whole Foods products.

Anyone who has known me for more than a few weeks knows that I am constantly changing my hair. Whether it be the cut or the color, I have fun letting Jonathan do whatever he wants within what I deem to be reasonable parameters. Well, call me a desperate housewife of Charlottesville if you must, but I now have hair extensions! That’s right. My ever-changing hair has crossed over into new territory. Jonathan suggested a while ago that we do extensions in my hair and I laughed it off thinking “who gets extensions besides the girls on The Hills?”
I do!
I’ve been waiting all my life (well, at least since The Little Mermaid came out) and I finally have hair like Ariel, at least for a few months. Pics to come…

I decided to pay some extra special attention to baby sister tonight by going on babycenter.com to see what size of fruit/vege she compares to at 32 weeks gestation. Turns out she is the size of a large Jicama. Oh good… that’s just how I envisioned my new little bundle of joy.

I am told that Addie’s sweet friend Ila Byrd prays for her regularly during her nightly prayers. How cute is it that Addie makes the list with flowers and Ila’s dog? I am certain that, despite not even being two years old, Ila is very discerning and knows Addie needs as much spiritual intervention as possible. Ila’s prayerful perseverance made some headway tonight when, after I said a simple prayer at bedtime, Addie clapped and asked for more.
