Last week Daniel traveled to Las Vegas, New York City, and Seattle for work. I thought, why should he have all the fun? So I loaded up the Camry with all of our belongings, including a pink potty, and headed to Giles County, VA. It turned out to be great timing since the electrical box outside of our house went up in flames and we had no electricity.
Here are a few of the highlights from our 12 days at Papa’s farm and Nana’s house…
Donkeys and cows:

Lots of blueberries:

My cousin’s husband, Jeff, was nicknamed Captain Blueberry for obvious reasons:

Trucks and tractors:

Unfortunately, Addie doesn’t fully appreciate all the farm equipment the way some of her little boy friends would. But it’s safe to say she had a very good time.

Yesterday I received a package in the mail full of these adorable handmade cards:

At some point I mentioned to my friend Jane that I was going with more peach and less pink with Carter (I am not ashamed to admit I think about these types of things). Could she have found a better fabric? These cards are too pretty to use!
And look how she packaged them:

I love little bags made of pretty fabric. I even went through the trouble of requesting a second Anthropologie rewards card for the cute bag. I’m still not sure who reads this blog, but if you like cute cards and little bags, go to Jane’s Etsy store!
Photos are stolen from Jane’s blog.

A few days ago, we went peach picking with friends at Chiles Orchard. Lucky for us, Sarah came along and took some fabulous photos.

Sarah also came over yesterday to take some family photos. Here is one of sweet Carter (aka mini Daniel):

Speaking of talented friends, Kelly is opening up a children’s yoga studio. Bend’s grand opening is tomorrow! We got a sneak peek this past weekend, and let’s just say Addie resembled more of a feral child and less of a serene yogi running around on the padded flooring. Luckily, Kelly understands the average 2 yo is not very contemplative and has a great class called Grasshoppers for Addie.

Carter is very excited for the day she has control over her limbs and facial expressions so she can look as intelligent as her other family members.

A brand new frozen yogurt place called Sweet Frog opened on the Downtown Mall this weekend. It is AMAZING. I was suspicious I thought this because I don’t get out much, but my sister confirmed the place truly is wonderful and even admitted she can’t stop thinking about it. We will probably go again today… that means we’ve been there every day since they’ve opened.

Today we decided to take a very last minute trip to the Children’s Museum of Richmond in Short Pump. Addie had a great time and it was an easy trip that made the day go by quickly. My favorite part? The nursing room. It wasn’t the big comfy rocking chair or the clean changing table that won me over. It was the room’s close proximity to an exhibit of a cow mooing loudly over and over and over. Nothing like some good sound effects to help a breastfeeding mom feel awesome.

Things have been a little crazy around here to say the least. Carter is as easy as can be, but is a newborn who eats around the clock and takes her sweet time savoring every sip. Throw in a little mastitis and a migraine and I’ve pretty much been taking it easy at home. Carter has shown us that Addie really is a “spirited” child and it’s not our imaginations. I don’t want to speak too soon, but so far we barely know what Carter’s cry sounds like and she is pacifier-free. I can’t wait to see the differences between the two girls as they grow older!
Carter’s face sums up the general mentality in our household:

Addie LOVES her baby sister and tells me “baby cute” at least 10 times a day.

We’ve added to our collection of tiny houses and are thinking about renting it out. Let us know if you are interested:

Addie doing the potty victory dance which includes a naked lap around the house while I sing the pee pee song (a very complicated song I made up myself):

Addie is currently vacationing with the Abuelos in Virginia Beach. She was so excited to leave today and couldn’t get out of the house and into Abuela’s car fast enough. First stop on Addie’s beach itinerary was a trip to the salon. I have been putting this off for a long time and am glad she can finally see past her bangs.

Fourth of July quote of the day:
Me: ”Did I just hear Carter poop?”
Daniel: “I think it was the fireworks outside.”
Needless to say, Carter is eating well and all systems are functioning properly. Bodily function talk is at an all time high with a new baby and a potty training toddler in the house.
